Social Media Breakfast Calgary #65

8:30 am – 10:30 am, Friday, June 19, 2015
Fort Calgary

Calgary Social Media Breakfast (SMByyc) is pleased to announce the June 2015 Topic:  PIN for the WIN

Have you ever found yourself hours into Pinterest, wondering where the time went?
Do you have a hard time understanding how anyone could lose track of time? (Falling down the pin-hole as they say.)
How do businesses leverage a platform that seems filled with imagery and no substance?

Pinterest has now become one of the largest platforms available. Not only will you have a better understanding of Pinterest’s eco-system, but also how its business model functions, and how you’re meant to utilize the platform for your brand.

Will Pinterest’s ‘Buy’ button challenge Amazon?
What does the future of Pinterest against other social channels look like?
How do others leverage Pinterest?

Q & A will follow the presentation so please bring your questions.  These discussions are exactly why we love social media, so let’s have them.

If you are not able to attend, follow and join in on the discussion @SMByyc via #SMByyc65.

Dario Hudon-Verrelli – Octopus & Son Social Media Inc.

Having once stolen fruit from a cart in front of the Vatican due to a dire need for nourishment, Dario’s past is as colourful as his language. Prior to the founding of Octopus & Son Social Media Inc. out of a need to provide small to medium sized businesses with a cost effective marketing solution, he worked for Apple Inc. Several years within their culture helped cultivate a skill set that mends their IT sphere, visual conception, relational training and social networking into a proficiency that is sought by many.

Outside of Octopus & Son, his passions include traveling (but not flying), where he has had the joy of touring Europe over the course of two years with his wife Jacqueline. Language, history and food being the wonderful spinoffs of such travel.

He currently spends his time focused between his young family and enjoying social networking of the digital variety.

Venue & Breakfast Sponsor:  Fort Calgary

Fort Calgary  is the birthplace of Calgary. Today, events, education and their rich history make them who we are. Host your next event at the place where this city began – they have full in-house catering and event services!

In the fall of 1875 the North West Mounted Police built a small wooden fort at the confluence of the Bow and Elbow Rivers, and laid the foundation for the city that became Calgary. They came to bring law and order to the west, to stamp out the whiskey trade, and to befriend the First Nations peoples in preparation for the treaties that would open the land for settlement. The hopes, dreams and values of that time are still evident in the city we enjoy today.

Fort Calgary is located just east of downtown Calgary on a 40-acre site. Open year-round, the Fort offers Calgarians and their guests fun, interactive exhibits, tours and school programs. The 1888 Barracks and Interpretive Centre are available for private rentals, including weddings, meetings, banquets and Christmas parties.

Fort Calgary is owned by The City of Calgary and is operated by the Fort Calgary Preservation Society.
